WATER POLICY

Water policy is a critical element in planning for inevitable growth occurring in central Texas and beyond.

This effort started in 2010 when the Lower Colorado River Authority solicited stakeholders to participate in water planning. Several of our Board members devoted considerable time and resources to this initiative and became aware of how important water policy is in the immediate and long term future of Texas, especially during periods of drought.

Fundraising activities involve soliciting donations from the public and area businesses to support educational and research efforts of water-focused organizations, such as Central Texas Water Coalition (CTWC), whose primary mission is to advocate for and preserve the Highland Lakes' role as an irreplaceable natural resource that drives an important regional economic engine for the State of Texas, and to bring together concerned citizens as a constituency of the Highland "Lake Interests".

The vast majority of our efforts will be focused all across the Colorado River basin in central Texas. Our hope is that these activities will benefit all consumers of water and public policy officials concerned for our future and will help secure our water supply.
